Good news!

I passed my neuro exam with flying colors! All signs point to normal. They didn't even bother ordering an MRI.

I have a call into the nurse asking what it was he thought I had. He told me, and it was a mouth full, but didn't write it down. It's hereditary. Basically, it's the outside nerves in my arms and legs that have damage to the coating around them which, when pressed just so, will cause a temporary lapse in signal. He did ask me if I'd recently lost a lot of weight. Interesting. I have an appointment to go back in 6 months, unless I have another episode and then I'm to call and get in right away where they can do some kind of electrical test on those nerves to make a definitive diagnosis.

I am relieved beyond belief. They did a series of tests that all pointed away from MS.

Thank you ALL for thinking of me today!!

XOXOXOXOX

That's wonderful news!! Unfortunately you still don't have a definite answer, but YAY for a great appointment! I'm curious to see if any of it is related to weightloss or why the question.

Thanks guys! I'm not clear about the weight loss question - when I talk to the nurse I'll ask if he thought the rapid loss could have triggered this or if he was trying to figure out if it was a different condition. He did remark that I'd lost 1/3 of my body weight.

I'm beyond thrilled for you!! I was thinking about you all day and was so glad to see your post. SO VERY GLAD that you ruled out MS.

Keep up your acupuncture and perhaps include massage (?) to help heal whatever is going on. It's curious that the Dr. cued in on your recent weight loss. I wonder how that relates to your condition?

In any case, I know you'll sleep good tonight-- worry free!

So happy to hear you are ok! That is really interesting about the weight loss. I have been out of the loop for a long while, but just wanted you to know that I love ya!! I have been wanting to ask you some real estate questions, and I cannot remember your number. If you get a change will you send that to me again. My email is gjpayne05@gmail.com. Talk to you soon.

So glad to hear the great news. I cannot imagine the sense of relief you feel right now!

As for the weight loss question I am guessing it could be a lot of different things including: fat stores a lot of toxins including mercury. When you lose a lot of weight you release those toxins and some of them can affect the nervous system. The other reason is that if you have lost a lot of weight on a highly fat-restrictive diet, it can affect your body's ability to produce the myelin (the coating around your nerves which is largely composed of cholesterol). If you don't eat enough saturated fats for your liver to convert to the cholesterol it needs, your nerves can suffer. This is usually "temporary".

Okay, nerdy science chick is done. :) Good news and be sure to continue to take care of yourself!

Thank you all!

LD, I plan on talking to my acupuncturist about a lymph cleanse and see if she knows anyone she'd recommend to do a lymph massage. :)

Amy! This makes soooo much sense! I love you nerdy science girl! You've put the pieces of the puzzle together.

Thanks again all of you!
