Can you help me raise money for relief efforts in Haiti?

I just created a personal fundraising page on mercycorps.org. I'm trying to raise money to support earthquake survivors in Haiti.

Haiti's capital city is said to be "flattened," and officials the number of dead may top 100,000.

Mercy Corps is deploying a team of relief workers to the island to help meet survivors' most urgent needs -- like shelter, food and clean water. They've responded to dozens of disasters like this in the past, such as earthquakes in Peru in 2007, in Pakistan and China in 2008, and in Padang, Indonesia last year.

Please check out my page for more info -- http://www.mercycorps.org/fundraising/helderheid -- and please consider making a gift on behalf of my campaign.

Thank you!

CRAP, the page isn't loading now. Mercy Corps is probably getting slammed.

Thank you for doing this. You are probably not aware, but my mother, Miss Mary's Rantings (you follow her blog, http://missmarysravesandrants.blogspot.com/ , and my father are missionary's to Haiti. They help support 8 different orphanages in and around Port au Prince, and have been building a school about 10 miles outside of the city for 300 children who have never been able to attend school before (we think the school may have been destroyed now :(. They are in the states at the moment, but we can't get a hold of any of our friends down there. It's very scary, we don't really know anything except what we get on CNN. :( Thank you for keeping the people of Haiti in your thoughts, and again for doing this.

Hello friend- This is a wonderful thing you are doing, helderheid! I tried going to your weblink, but I can't get the page to load, I'm sure they're overwhelmed with people today. I'll try again tomorrow- Thank you for doing this... many hugs to you.

Brandi, that's amazing and heartbreaking all at once.

The link works now - I will repost it in hopes of getting more traffic.

Thank you ALL. I have been in tears on and off all day just thinking of what's happening.

I tried to donate here, but still haven't gotten a confirmation email from PayPal. Not sure if it went thru.

My local market is matching contributions for the first several thousand dollars, with proceeds going to the Red Cross. If I contribute to your efforts, Red Cross, and Doctors without Borders, maybe what little I give can get there even quicker!
